Indian Phataka League – It’s Back…

In Sports on March 12, 2010 at 4:34 am

The next 50 odd days the TV viewing habit is going to be sent for a toss in India households. IPL – 3 starts from today with the opening encounter between last year’s champion team Deccan Chargers and the last but not the least Kolkata Knight Riders.

After the African Safari in season 2, its time for the teams to go on a Bharat Darshan. The teams are geared up, the viewers are geared up, the IPL fake player is geared up, the cheerleaders are geared down, the Mandira Bedi is geared down (No!!! Not Again)…let the show begin.

But not all are looking forward to welcome the Indian Phataka League. Not the newly married bride, or the Saans Bahu serial addict housewife who may display withdrawal syndromes (withdrawal from household chores & gossipping) and last but not the least Bollywood. After recovering a bit from the last years recession (both financial & creative) things were looking up this year until Lalit Modi, his tamasha party & the cheerleaders with their tandoori legs decided to become Kabab May Haddi!!!

Tata – Not The One To Shy Away

In Thane on March 8, 2010 at 8:22 pm

It’s well past mid night but I had to pen this blog. It has been quiet an eventful day. In the morning upset with the connectivity issues with my Tata Photon+ connection I had made by views public through my blog “Tata Photon Phuss”  but I didn’t expect to get a response from “Tata Photon Customer Care” of all the people.

I wasn’t taken by that much of a surprise when I got not one but two calls from their customer care enquiring about the resolving of the issue which they had already done by sending over a service engineer. But what surprised me and my friends is how companies like Tata keep track of their customer’s pulse even in the virtual world.

I’m impressed and would like to know a bit more about it…

My late Nights With Maggi

In Food on March 8, 2010 at 7:19 pm

Time and again whwenever I have to stay back in office to put in the extra effort invariably I ended up staying awake a bit late and by the time I eventually made it back home tired to the bones…I really don’t have an appetite.

Off course there is always the option of having dinner at office itself, but I always considered it to be a waste of timwhen the only thing on which you wanted to focus on was the presentation which you had promised to send to your client by end of day. It’s another matter that my end of day was usually past midnight in these cases.

So, what do you do when your bosy wants to hit the sack but you know that sleeping hungry isn’t the best thing to do. It is here that instant noodles in the form of Maggi comes to the rescue. Time and again. Right from the engineering days, to MBA days you can always have Maggi in any goddamn hour and it always keeps you drooling for more.

So, now whenever I have an inkling that I will be late in office I make 2 things sure…ask my wife to put off my dinner and to make sure that there is at least 2 packs of Maggi at home.

Nothing ends the day better than a bowl of hot steaming Tomato / Chicken / Vegetable Masala Maggi to give company. Even the wife doesn’t complain.

Tata Photon Phusss!!!

In Thane on March 8, 2010 at 5:46 am

A big let down. Something which I didn’t expect at all from the Tata stable. The need for speed made me go for Tata Photon + in search of their elusive 3.1 Mbps downlaod speed… damn I am now struggling to even reach the 3 Kbps mark and the connection is not even a week old.

The 1st night I used it the speed was really wow…simply amazing… true to their word but maybe that was just a demo performance. The next time I used it the speed was good but over the weekend, the speed crashed faster than a free fall.

I can even prepare a plate of steaming Maggi noodles by the time the Google page gets uploaded…that’s what the scene is like.

Managed to lodge a complaint on Sunday noon and was informed that the problem will be resolved within 12 hours…noon became evening and evening turned to midnight when I again buzzed their Customer Care to say “Hello, is it me you’re looking for?”… again been promised a visit from the executive by afternoon today…

I even have made a presentation of the screenshots which shows the actual download speed…for the visiting service executive. If nothings gonna happen by today evening Im gonna claim a refund…
