A big let down. Something which I didn’t expect at all from the Tata stable. The need for speed made me go for Tata Photon + in search of their elusive 3.1 Mbps downlaod speed… damn I am now struggling to even reach the 3 Kbps mark and the connection is not even a week old.
The 1st night I used it the speed was really wow…simply amazing… true to their word but maybe that was just a demo performance. The next time I used it the speed was good but over the weekend, the speed crashed faster than a free fall.
I can even prepare a plate of steaming Maggi noodles by the time the Google page gets uploaded…that’s what the scene is like.
Managed to lodge a complaint on Sunday noon and was informed that the problem will be resolved within 12 hours…noon became evening and evening turned to midnight when I again buzzed their Customer Care to say “Hello, is it me you’re looking for?”… again been promised a visit from the executive by afternoon today…
I even have made a presentation of the screenshots which shows the actual download speed…for the visiting service executive. If nothings gonna happen by today evening Im gonna claim a refund…

even i faced some issues with their service, like the welcome kit i got had one digit of the number missing, the sales person did not bother to give me an invoice after 2 wks, i received no alerts on bill payments despite making all settings in my profile and ofcourse the speed problem. i wrote a few nasty mails and got things moving. as for the 3.1 mbps speed claim, i guess there is a lot of difference in the way we, the customers, and the service provider interpret it. the said speed is not the speed of website upload and neither its the speed at which you can download movies, songs etc. try the site speedcheck.net to check your internet speed. here you will see that the speed of your connection is in some mbps. but wat does this speed signify, i am not clear.
and ya, do not make calls. file complaints thru mails. that ways they have to act on it. the buggers do not even have a customer care email id. you have to visit their portal and do it.
I bought a Tata Photon + on 31st July 2009 having number 9230040689 9230040689 and account number 934185426.
After using the photon I found that speed is very very low. I contacted customer support they gave me various settiing but couldnot increase the speed. The speed I was getting was in the range of 100 to 300 kbps. This was tested from the website provided by Tata support executive. The complaint was registered vide email on august 10 2009 vide docket number 184342283.
Various executive visited my house, changed various setting in the computer but could not increase the speed. They checked with 2-3 computers at various locations in house and even used their own laptop to check but of no avail.
On complaining to nodal office on august 11 2009 he closed the call informing me that speed between 256 kbps to 600 kbps is Ok. and had no explanation why my Photon is working so slow.
On appealling to to Applleate Authority vide no. 193074549 dated 14th October 2009 I am yet to receive any answer.
I hv stopped using the connection and is running around to get my refund from the comapny, for this expensive white elephant where the ad claims speed upto 3.1 MBPs but comapny says it is not possible.
Now they are only asking for the bill which they have generated without solving the problem. The 3 bills I have already paid without getting any service, they are silent about it. The complaint to Nodal Office and Apellate Authority is still pending.
